You might be running FNIS through Vortex, but it doesn't look like it is actually installed through Vortex and thus it has bad path. I'm frustrated and just want to finish modding the game. However why does it keep saying "bad install" if it's running? I don't know / understand what I need to do here. That being said I did change the directory path of FNIS in Vortex to where FNIS was installed and I DO run FNIS THROUGH vortex before each and every mod. When the directory was then later changed it caused an issue with the other mod packs that had been installed and put them in wrong locations / caused corrupt data. This wrong directory led to a corrupt installation and it wouldn't run properly. For some reason Vortex had the directory wrong when I installed it the first time.

The best way to PREVENT this issue is when you install FNIS through Vortex make SURE that the directory (under edit on the FNIS Vortex page on dashboard click the : looking icon beside the play button of FNIS) is NOT just Data > GENERATEFNIS_FORUSERS but that is in Data > tools > GENERATEFNIS_FORUSERS directory. This will insure when you do a clean install of FNIS and get the directory correct it won't have previous errors / warnings / corrupt data. Then delete ALL the FNIS folders from the SSE game directory Data folder area and from the above listed area too.

Remove ALL FNIS mods / delete archives too. It is under SSE GAME FOLDER > DATA > MESHES> ACTORS > CHARACTER > ANIMATIONS > X mod folder here. I did FIND however the "corrupt" warning issue file directory FINALLY. The left over files may cause FNIS data issues / conflict issues in Vortex. If your FNIS installs incorrectly / Vortex messes up the directory and you have the mod packs sometimes bad corrupt files might be left over. I just can't get this mess sorted and it's put a halt on the modding train and I was hoping to have this done today.Īlso, I put it on (game / mods) a separate SSD on a different drive from the OS / Program Files folders. (Sorry if it seems like I'm being rude here but I want people to know I am not half azzing the mod guide. I HAVE UPDATED MY C++ AND OTHER PROGRAMS AS INSTRUCTED IN THE MOD GUIDE TOO. I HAVE NOT INSTALLED SSE, MODS, TOOLS OR ANYTHING TO MY PROGRAM FILES FOLDER. So I keep getting these error statements from FNIS.

When I download via Vortex and install the mod it is putting the mod in the mod folder not my SSE folder when it installs. I am at the part for FNIS and I am following the Youtube Video on the list. My guess is either av was scanning and locked the file temporarily, or becasue I enabled multiple mods quickly, fnis tripped over itself somehow.I am following Vlad's mod guide (superb by the way encouraged me to try to mod SSE again after a failure 1-2 years ago that just kept resulting in CTD after using a "STEP" guide online that was utter trash). I was deploying multiple mods quickly, none should have required fnis to run as they didn't contain animations.
I would expect since vortex is calling fnis that it would pass the error (when there is one) and request feedback on what to do (exit or run again) rather than hang forever with no indication of what's wrong.įirst time I've seen this, so I don't know how to reproduce. Exited fnis manually and the deployement completed with no further interaction. This is odd because I had nothing open that would be accessing that file, nor did the mods I was enabling require fnis. There I found fnis had an error that it couldn't complete because a file was in use. Opened task manager and found the fnis process and switched to it. Deployment wasn't proceeding and there was no feedback other than it was on the fnis step.
